The Cubs (28-19) just completed a three-game sweep of the crosstown White Sox at Wrigley Field with a rare Sunday victory. Overall, the North Siders went 5-1 against the two last place teams they welcomed to the Friendly Confines this week. Now they head to the Sunshine State to take on the same Marlins squad they just played five days ago.<\/p>\n
Miami (18-27) returned home and won two of three from Tampa Bay at loanDepot Park after dropping a series to the Cubs at the beginning of last week. The hitting continues to be decent for the Fish, with a team OPS of .698 that ranks 17th in MLB. Outfielder Kyle Stowers<\/a> went deep three times against the Cubs and is red-hot with 10 homers and a .944 OPS.<\/p>\n The Marlins pitching is still lousy, though it has been slowly improving of late. They got a big boost from the return of hard-throwing lefty Ryan Weathers<\/a> to the rotation after missing the start of the season with injury. Chicago successfully rallied against closer Jes\u00fas Tinoco<\/a> on Tuesday, but the bullpen has been at least serviceable recently.<\/p>\n The Cubs came dangerously close to losing the first set against the Marlins last week and needed a 9th-inning comeback to win it. Winning on the road can be tricky against any opponent, even the bad ones like Miami.
