George Springer<\/a> is having arguably his best Major League Baseball season in 2025. He has a .309 batting average, a .399 on-base percentage, 32 home runs, and 84 RBI. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The four-time All-Star is looking for his second World Series championship this season as the Toronto Blue Jays face off against the Los Angeles Dodgers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, before playing Major League Baseball for the Toronto Blue Jays and Houston Astros, Springer was a star in college with the University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Springer is UConn\u2019s Highest Draft Pick Ever\u00a0<\/p>\n

Springer\u00a0stepped onto the college baseball scene in a big way. In 2009, Baseball America named him a freshman All-American. He was also the Big East Freshman of the Year that same season. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old eventually became the Big East Player of the Year in the 2011 season. He was also named a first-team All-American by Perfect Game and the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). \u00a0<\/p>\n

Springer became the highest-drafted UConn player when the Houston Astros took him 11th overall in the 2011 MLB Draft. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The Huskies felt the impact of Springer during his college career. They made it to the NCAA Tournament with him on the team two times in 2010 and 2011. \u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2011, UConn made it to a super regional and played the South Carolina Gamecocks, who went on to win the 2011 national championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Huskies also won the 2011 Big East regular season championship with Springer. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Game one of the 2025 World Series will be on Friday, October 24. The first pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. EDT. at Rogers Centre in Toronto. \u00a0<\/p>\n
