After all, he had only been able to pitch 43.1 innings with the Texas Rangers the year prior.

The regular season wound up being rocky for Scherzer, who once again struggled to stay on the mound and was inconsistent when healthy. That completely changed in the playoffs, as the future Hall-of-Famer made three starts, including Game 7 of the World Series. He logged 14.1 innings over those three starts while posting a respectable 3.77 ERA.

Thanks in large part to his playoff showing, Scherzer’s time in Toronto (should he not re-sign) will be looked back on fondly by the fan base. It appears the experience was every bit as enjoyable for himself and his family.

“When Max signed with Toronto I had a feeling we would enjoy the experience. Never could I have imagined just how special this season would turn out to be,” Max’s wife, Erica, wrote on Instagram. “Out of 18 seasons in the MLB none has had an impact on our lives quite like this one.

“Toronto, our family fell in love with your beauty, culture and people. Playing for an entire country is truly special.”

Throughout the season and particularly in the playoffs, we heard time and time again that the players in the Blue Jays clubhouse loved being around each other. Erica is the latest of many to back up that claim.

“Normally at the end of a season, regardless of the outcome, you’re ready to go home and recharge. Never have I seen a team full of players and their families that did not want the season to end and wished they could play for many more weeks, just to get more time together.

“I feel incredibly blessed to still live this beautiful baseball life and to watch Max live out his dream. I’m devastated the season is over, proud for what this team accomplished, and grateful for the experiences and lifelong friendships that came from it.”

As for Scherzer, it’s unclear what lies ahead. Despite having already carved out one heck of a legacy, he said shortly after Game 7 that he doesn’t intend on retiring.

Max Scherzer has enjoyed plenty of great moments throughout his MLB career, but the three-time Cy Young Award…

[2378
5,283,377,2554,284,4,282,70,2553
0":"post-415790","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-toronto-blue-jays","8":"tag-baseball","9":"tag-blue","10":"tag-blue-jays","11":"tag-bluejays","12":"tag-jays","13":"tag-mlb","14":"tag-toronto","15":"tag-toronto-blue-jays","16":"tag-torontobluejays
["GET
