Kevin Sherrington\u2019s A La Carte<\/p>\n

\u2014 Pete DeBoer is now an incredible 9-0 in Game 7s after eliminating Colorado, breaking his tie with Red Auerbach<\/a> for the most such wins in North American sports. What does it mean? Could be that his teams are poised, resilient, deep. Could be his players trust him implicitly, as they should, and play with confidence as a result. Could be Mikko Rantanen was a nice pick-up<\/a>. Whatever it means, the longer these series go, the better I like the Stars\u2019 chances.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The third-period comeback wins by the Stars and Jets in Game 7 wins prove once again that a lead in hockey<\/a> is about as safe as your 401(k).<\/p>\n

\u2014 Bruce Bochy, at 3-0, has never lost a Game 7, either. If the Rangers continue their current pace<\/a>, he won\u2019t have to risk his spotless record.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The Rangers\u2019 slump has cost Leody Taveras, Donnie Ecker and Jake Burger so far. Burger will be back. But, if things don\u2019t pick up soon, who\u2019s next<\/a>? Won\u2019t be Marcus Semien or Joc Pederson. Not at their salaries. Adolis Garcia? Hard to think of the Rangers without the guy Corey Seager calls the heart of the team. But, like Pederson, he could end up on the bench more often if Evan Carter and Alejandro Osuna get the call.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Taveras has the potential to be an above-average player and centerfielder, but the Rangers waited long enough<\/a>. What I won\u2019t miss: Leody looking in his glove after the catch, as if he\u2019s not quite sure. <\/p>\n

\u2014 Count me guilty for approving deals<\/a> that allowed the Rangers to swap out Nate Lowe for Jake Burger at first base. Going into Monday, Lowe\u2019s slash line for the Nationals was .254\/.331\/.446\/.777, which would be fourth on his former team. Furthermore, his six home runs would lead the club.<\/p>\n
