{"id":42708,"date":"2025-05-21T02:41:22","date_gmt":"2025-05-21T02:41:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/42708\/"},"modified":"2025-05-21T02:41:22","modified_gmt":"2025-05-21T02:41:22","slug":"branding-removed-from-houston-astros-ballpark-construction-for-daikin-park-rebrand-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/42708\/","title":{"rendered":"Branding removed from Houston Astros\u2019 ballpark, construction for \u2018Daikin Park\u2019 rebrand underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">A rebrand is underway for the iconic ballpark home to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/topic\/Astros\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Houston Astros.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Astros\u2019 ballpark, which has been known as \u201cMinute Maid Park\u201d for the last 22 years, is now rebranding as \u201cDaikin Park,\u201d after the Japanese air conditioning conglomerate agreed to acquire the stadium\u2019s naming rights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The new name was first announced in Nov. 2024, and the new name officially went into effect on Jan. 1, 2025. The Daikin brand has a Texas connection, as its independent subsidiary Goodman Manufacturing operates out of Waller.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Astros\u2019 ballpark first opened in 2000, under the name \u201cEnron Field.\u201d After the company\u2019s infamous accounting scandal led to its bankruptcy, the Astros agreed to end the partnership and rename the stadium in 2002, paving the way for Coca-Cola-owned juice giant Minute Maid to acquire the naming rights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Astros saw their most successful era in team history during the Minute Maid Park era, and the ballpark became affectionately known as the \u201cJuice Box.\u201d The stadium\u2019s train cart filled with oranges in left field became an iconic symbol for both the team and the Minute Maid brand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The team will have some work to do to familiarize fans with the Daikin brand with the stadium\u2019s identity in the 2025 MLB season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Minute Maid will remain a partner with the Astros through 2029, according to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/business\/2024\/11\/18\/minute-maid-park-in-houston-will-soon-be-renamed-daikin-park-under-new-business-partnership-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> a report from the Associated Press.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Breaking News Alerts<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kiwhtN\">More Stories Like This In Our Email Newsletter<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2025 by KPRC Click2Houston &#8211; All rights reserved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A rebrand is underway for the iconic ballpark home to the Houston Astros.
