The Los Angeles Dodgers recently parted ways with utility man Chris Taylor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After 10 seasons in L.A., Taylor was released as emerging talent from Triple-A and injured Dodgers returning to the team made for a crowded clubhouse. With the end goal being October baseball, moves needed to be made to not only help the team right now, but for years to come.<\/p>\n

Because of this new roster reality, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman spoke <\/a>on how Taylor\u2019s most recent role in L.A. wasn\u2019t conducive to his success, but added he\u2019s expecting the veteran to shine in the next chapter of his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith a lot of guys, but with CT as well, it\u2019s hard to play once a week, it\u2019s a tough role, and in a vacuum isolated to him, probably not the best role for him to have success,\u201d Friedman said. \u201cBut just with the way our roster has played out, that\u2019s how it\u2019s evolved. But I know he\u2019s looking forward to trying getting an opportunity to play more often, and he\u2019s got a chip on his shoulder, and I certainly would not bet against him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The decision to release Taylor came just days after the team parted ways with another longtime veteran in Austin Barnes<\/a>. The Dodgers designated the catcher for assignment, and in a corresponding move, called up their top prospect from the last two seasons, Dalton Rushing<\/a>, to back up Will Smith<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Taylor\u2019s case, his offensive output had dropped from seasons past as he was hitting just .202 the past two years.<\/p>\n

Taylor\u2019s contributions to the Dodgers, including four pennants and two World Series trophies, will never be forgotten. The 2017 NLCS co-MVP has a special place in Dodgers fandom, but like Friedman said, he is far from finished. <\/p>\n

Taylor is 34 years old and proven himself as a hot<\/a> commodity around today\u2019s landscape with his ability to play both the infield and outfield to pair with his experience and leadership. Not to mention, Taylor has had no shortage of clutch moments throughout his career that Dodgers fans will love to see, regardless of what uniform he puts on next. <\/p>\n
