Rockies prospect Braylen Wimmer, a 2023 eighth-round pick who reached AA Hartford this past season, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor, for which surgery was required.<\/p>\n

Wimmer was one of the Rockies\u2019 minor-league players sent to the Arizona Fall League to play with the Salt River Rafters. He was nearing the end of the season when, according to a family friend<\/a>, he suffered a seizure en route to a game, leading to the Nov. 1 diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, Wimmer\u2019s alma mater, South Carolina, and the Rockies\u2019 high-A affiliate, the Spokane Indians, posted messages of support for Wimmer:<\/p>\n

Wimmer was one of the Rockies<\/a>\u2018 minor-league players sent to the Arizona Fall League to play with the Salt River Rafters. He was nearing the end of the season when, according to a family friend, he suffered a seizure en route to a game, leading to the diagnosis.<\/p>\n

In 17 games with the Rafters, Wimmer posted a .222\/.328\/.241 line.<\/p>\n

Friends and family of Wimmer established a GoFundMe account<\/a> to raise money for Wimmer\u2019s brain surgery and recovery. As of Wednesday night, over $52,000 had been raised, with a goal of $55,000.<\/p>\n
