The Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a> are World Series champions for the second consecutive year.<\/p>\n

Miguel Rojas tied the game in the top of the ninth inning, and both Rojas and Andy Pages made clutch defensive plays in the bottom half to keep the Dodgers alive.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles went on to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> in seven games, silencing the Rogers Centre crowd and capturing back-to-back titles.<\/p>\n

Manager Dave Roberts used six pitchers in the deciding game, including Shohei Ohtani<\/a>, as well as Game 6 starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Game 5 starter Blake Snell.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, it was catcher Will Smith who delivered the biggest hit of the night. Smith\u2019s solo home run in the top of the 11th inning gave the Dodgers their first lead, 5-4. Yamamoto then closed things out in the bottom of the inning, earning the victory for Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Despite throwing 96 pitches just one day earlier, Yamamoto came out of the bullpen to record the final 2 2\/3 innings. He escaped a tense jam with runners on first and third by inducing Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk into a game-ending double play.<\/p>\n

This marks MLB\u2019s first repeat champion since the New York Yankees<\/a>, who won three straight titles from 1998 through 2000. It\u2019s also the first National League team to repeat since the 1975-76 Cincinnati Reds<\/a>, led by Pete Rose and Hall of Famer Johnny Bench.<\/p>\n

Next season, Los Angeles will aim to become just the third team in MLB history to win three straight World Series titles, joining the Yankees and the 1972-74 Oakland Athletics<\/a>.<\/p>\n
