A day later, he said he wants his posts to speak for themselves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"KXMFF7IUGVD3DI3QDBOFUNBYWQ\">Buehler, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/redsox\/2025\/05\/walker-buehler-ejected-red-sox-starter-alex-cora-tossed-in-third-inning-tuesday.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/redsox\/2025\/05\/walker-buehler-ejected-red-sox-starter-alex-cora-tossed-in-third-inning-tuesday.html\">who was ejected by home plate umpire Mike Estabrook after arguing a ball-strike call to Juan Soto in the third inning Tuesday<\/a>, posted twice on the social media platform early Wednesday morning. One tweet responded to Laz Diaz\u2019s characterization of the ejection and another commented on Mets star Francisco Lindor encouraging the umpiring crew to throw him out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ANSG7OOBDNFM3N56WJSEUDTYG4\">\u201cI said my piece \u2014 sponsored by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buffalotracedistillery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.buffalotracedistillery.com\/\">Buffalo Trace<\/a> (bourbon) a little bit,&#8221; Buehler laughed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"DLJEVINSCZD65ARN2LICLEKX74\">On Tuesday, Buehler threw a 1-0 pitch to Soto that was clearly a strike but Estabrook called it a ball after he didn\u2019t get a great look because catcher Carlos Narv\u00e1ez popped up to try to throw out Lindor, who was trying to steal second. Buehler repeatedly told the umpire that the pitch was \u201cright down the (expletive) middle\u201d and was ejected after a quick warning by Estabrook. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/redsox\/2025\/05\/alex-cora-umpire-explain-aggressive-walker-buehler-ejection-in-red-sox-win.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/redsox\/2025\/05\/alex-cora-umpire-explain-aggressive-walker-buehler-ejection-in-red-sox-win.html\">Crew chief Laz Diaz told a pool reporter that it was an automatic ejection whenever a player left his position to argue balls and strikes<\/a>. Buehler responded to Diaz\u2019s explanation by noting that Estabrook walked toward him with a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/buehlersdayoff\/status\/1925061229631901716\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow\" title=\"https:\/\/x.com\/buehlersdayoff\/status\/1925061229631901716\">tweet reply asking \u201cwho cut the distance\u201d between the two men<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"3D4AHEC4LFDITB2VAFK26XGS6U\">Buehler originally declined comment on Estabrook\u2019s behavior, in clear fear of a fine. But once he saw Diaz\u2019s comments, he changed his mind.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BCXPHJMU2JHWPM6QS6Z2BJ4L34\">\u201cThat\u2019s not my place to talk on what they do or whatnot,\u201d he said Wednesday. \u201cBut if they are going to give an interview, I think I have the right to respond a little bit. Again, I\u2019m not gonna comment on what I think he\u2019s thinking. I said my piece about my side of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"7E3H6MQKBBCGDNJXA2BT7XAQE4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/buehlersdayoff\/status\/1925070778145317217\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow\" title=\"https:\/\/x.com\/buehlersdayoff\/status\/1925070778145317217\">Buehler also quote-tweeted a video of Lindor egging on the umpires with<\/a>: \u201cI wouldn\u2019t want me out there either. Sad thing is the BULLPEN is full of (expletive) animals. Tough choice.\u201d Before Wednesday\u2019s game, he said it was water under the bridge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"U5NO2MMPIVDJLPXLZX3FL3ZNNM\">\u201cWe\u2019re all competitive,\u201c Buehler said. \u201dIt is what it is at that point. I\u2019d probably do the same if I was him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"6IXXTNJPZJH5NNHN45Y52RR34U\">Manager Alex Cora, who has a close relationship with Lindor, had breakfast with the shortstop in Boston on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"AIERG7CSYRGZDPNUKRA4CPCHTU\">\u201cI had breakfast with him this morning,\u201d Cora said. )I saw the Walker one&#8230; Trevor (Story) told me, too, he was doing the same thing (telling the umpires to eject Cora) when I was arguing. It is what it is. He\u2019s a good kid.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"GJSPVLX6ARC4DPBDSXZVAGWGTI\">In explaining why tensions rose so quickly Tuesday, Buehler mentioned that he \u201chad a history with the Mets.\u201d That was likely in relation to an <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Masterflip_\/status\/1925215559320252601\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow\" title=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Masterflip_\/status\/1925215559320252601\">animated scene during Game 3 of last year\u2019s NLCS, when Buehler and Lindor exchanged words on the field<\/a>. In an ironic twist, however, a source indicated recently that the Mets made a hard push to sign Buehler this winter and had a real shot at signing him before he agreed to a one-year, $21.05 million deal with the Red Sox. Buehler confirmed those talks Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"EALJNSI26NBCNPHO4WITKK6JX4\">\u201cThey definitely were one of the teams we had a lot of conversations with,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"PKIDBJHBWFHDFBGEWXMYM6RXGM\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/redsox\/2025\/05\/red-sox-reactions-surviving-early-ejections-solo-homers-and-bullpen-hold-off-mets.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/redsox\/2025\/05\/red-sox-reactions-surviving-early-ejections-solo-homers-and-bullpen-hold-off-mets.html\">Buehler remained regretful that he put Boston\u2019s bullpen in a bad spot with the ejection but was relieved that they combined for 6 \u2154 scoreless innings to preserve a 2-0 win<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"A7JCSTZ74VAR3GZW65TII43T4M\">\u201cIt\u2019s all fun and games until you take a step back and realize I left our bullpen out to dry,\u201d he said. \u201cObviously, they threw their ass off and kept us ahead and we win, but if one of those innings goes poorly and we lose, I think we look at it differently. For me, personally, putting our whole team in that situation, it\u2019s unacceptable and selfish.
