The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> made the biggest signing of the offseason thus far when they made a deal with Dylan Cease<\/a> for seven years, $210 million. Now, they need to keep going and make another star signing to really solidify their 2026 World Series chances.<\/p>\n

Fansided\u2019s Zachary Rotman<\/a> believes the move they need to make is getting a closer, specifically New York Mets<\/a> star Edwin Diaz.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdmittedly, meeting Diaz’s lavish demands might be too much to ask for, considering how volatile relievers can be, the fact that they’d have to part with additional compensation after Diaz rejected the qualifying offer, and the fact that he’ll be 32 years old by Opening Day, but if the Jays are hellbent on improving their bullpen, there isn’t a better option out there than Diaz. They’ve even been connected to Diaz this offseason,\u201d Rotman wrote.<\/p>\n

This past season, Diaz posted a record of 6-3, an ERA of 1.63, 98 Ks, a WHIP of 0.874, and 28 saves in 62 games. He would definitely anchor the bullpen and give Toronto one of the best pens in the AL.<\/p>\n

Also, with Trey Yesavage, Shane Bieber, Kevin Gausman, and now Cease, adding Diaz would basically let the Jays control most of the game. It would arguably give them one of the best pitching staffs in the AL, possibly the MLB.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, the Jays consider this and start working on negotiations with Diaz\u2019s camp right away.<\/p>\n
