Snap judgement is that Alvarado\u2019s is better because it\u2019s guaranteed to only be one season. If he\u2019s bad, the team can just wave goodbye after the season is concluded whereas if Helsley is bad, he\u2019s coming back at a really expensive salary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Alvarado was out half the season for failing a PED test last year and when he came back, he was bad, then hurt. He ended his season on the injured list with an elbow issue, not something that inspires confidence for 2026. Helsley was mostly \u201cmeh\u201d with the Cardinals, then a flat out failure with the Mets.
