The Los Angeles Dodgers have an unfortunate amount of pitching injuries at this point in the season.<\/p>\n
With already 14 arms on the injured list, including Cy Young award winners and All-Stars, Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman<\/a> spoke on the extent to which he is working to find solutions.<\/p>\n More news: Freddie Freeman Doesn\u2019t Want to Retire When Current Dodgers Contract is Up<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI mean, everything from my brain is about what we can do, like, how we can solve this,\u201d Friedman said. \u201cIt\u2019s like a game of Whack-a-Mole, and things keep popping up.\u201d<\/p>\n The constant injuries aren\u2019t new to the team, unfortunately. On the road to the 2024 World Series, the Dodgers were met with the same kind of ailments to pitchers, and tried to address this in the offseason by adding pitching depth.<\/p>\n Friedman explained that this work is now rendered useless.<\/p>\n \u201cThe definition of enough depth, I think is a fool\u2019s errand. I don\u2019t know what enough depth means. I think more is always better with pitching depth.\u201d<\/p>\n L.A. went out and got \u2018more\u2019 this offseason, but it hasn\u2019t exactly panned out at this point in the year. Three starters are on the injured list, and two of them were brought in this offseason.<\/p>\n Friedman concluded by talking about not pretending to know more about these complex injuries than the next person, but the willingness to admit when he and his team make mistakes in order to attempt stopping the cycle of hampered pitchers.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I said this a lot, and I think anyone who doesn\u2019t say it is not being honest, there\u2019s a lot we don\u2019t know about injury stuff, and I think it\u2019s important not to pretend like we have all the answers. There\u2019s a lot to it that is really challenging, and we\u2019re hoping to continue to grow and learn from experiences and just try to make the smartest, best move we can, knowing we\u2019re going to make mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n Friedman may not have the answers, but the lack of solutions surely won\u2019t keep him from trying to get the most effective product on the field at all times. <\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s by far the No. 1 thing that keeps me up at night,\u201d Friedman said.<\/p>\n
