On the road to the 2024 World Series, the Dodgers were met with the same kind of ailments to pitchers, and tried to address this in the offseason by adding pitching depth.

Friedman explained that this work is now rendered useless.

“The definition of enough depth, I think is a fool’s errand. I don’t know what enough depth means. I think more is always better with pitching depth.”

L.A. went out and got ‘more’ this offseason, but it hasn’t exactly panned out at this point in the year. Three starters are on the injured list, and two of them were brought in this offseason.

Friedman concluded by talking about not pretending to know more about these complex injuries than the next person, but the willingness to admit when he and his team make mistakes in order to attempt stopping the cycle of hampered pitchers.

“But I said this a lot, and I think anyone who doesn’t say it is not being honest, there’s a lot we don’t know about injury stuff, and I think it’s important not to pretend like we have all the answers. There’s a lot to it that is really challenging, and we’re hoping to continue to grow and learn from experiences and just try to make the smartest, best move we can, knowing we’re going to make mistakes.”

Friedman may not have the answers, but the lack of solutions surely won’t keep him from trying to get the most effective product on the field at all times.

“It’s by far the No. 1 thing that keeps me up at night,” Friedman said.

More news: Dodgers Have No Timeline for Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow Returns

Have you joined our Discord Channel yet?
