{"id":46905,"date":"2025-05-22T19:19:15","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T19:19:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/46905\/"},"modified":"2025-05-22T19:19:15","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T19:19:15","slug":"cubs-trade-idea-lands-pirates-paul-skenes-in-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/46905\/","title":{"rendered":"Cubs Trade Idea Lands Pirates\u2019 Paul Skenes in Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After the Pittsburgh Pirates\u2019 poor start to 2025, the fanbase wonders what the front office will do with its best player.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, that player is starting pitcher Paul Skenes, 17th in Major League Baseball with 62 strikeouts and a top contender for this year\u2019s National League Cy Young Award.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Many clubs could be interested if the Pirates make Skenes available in trade discussions at the deadline.<\/p>\n<p>The Chicago Cubs are one of MLB\u2019s potent offenses, but the starting rotation has left much to be desired after injuries to Justin Steele and Shota Imanaga.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/25197950-cooking-paul-skenes-blockbuster-trade-packages-amid-pirates-struggles\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Bleacher Report\u2019s Zachary Rymer;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Bleacher Report\u2019s Zachary Rymer <\/a>proposed a trade idea that would send Skenes to the Cubs to revamp their rotation.<\/p>\n<p>Rymer listed the Pirates\u2019 return as third baseman Matt Shaw, right-handed pitcher Cade Horton, and outfielder Owen Caissie.
