Right-hander Collin Snider has agreed to a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs, according to a social media post shared Wednesday<\/a> by Snider and Tread Athletics, a workout facility in Charlotte, N.C., where he trains in the offseason.<\/p>\n Snider, 30, had a strong season with the Mariners in 2024. He posted a 1.94 ERA, 1.176 WHIP and 47 strikeouts to 13 walks over 42 relief appearances (41 2\/3 innings) for a 0.9 fWAR<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 2025 season did not go smoothly for Snider, however. He had a 5.47 ERA, 1.443 WHIP and 24 strikeouts to six walks over 24 appearances (26 1\/3 innings) for a 0.7 fWAR.<\/p>\n Snider landed on the 15-day injured list in June with a right forearm flexor strain. He started a rehab assignment on July 5 with Triple-A Tacoma, and he remained with the Rainiers for the rest of the season, even after the M\u2019s reinstated him from the IL and designated him for assignment on July 30 to make room on the 40-man roster for trade deadline acquisition Caleb Ferguson.<\/p>\n The struggles continued for Snider in Triple-A, as he had an 8.06 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in 25 games for Tacoma.<\/p>\n Snider hit the open market when free agency began last month.<\/p>\n The Mariners added Snider in February 2024 on a waiver claim from the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was a 12th-round MLB Draft pick in 2017 by the Kansas City Royals, and he started his big league career with 62 appearances for the Royals in 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n The Cubs have had some success picking up under-the-radar relievers from the Mariners in recent years.
