“I know they’re a little tough too, when you’re struggling, and they let you know when you need to get better,” Segura said. “But that’s Philadelphia. And at the end of the day, they’re the best fans I’ve ever had in my career.”<\/p>\n
Segura explained why he feels Phillies fans are the best, “Because they care about the game, they care about the players, they love you, but at the same point, they let you know, we need you to get better.”<\/p>\n
He had his fair share of incredible moments in his Phillies career, including a roller coaster game against the San Diego Padres in the 2022 NLDS. Segura made incredible plays on defense, had clutch hits, and made a few mistakes en route to an unforgettable performance.<\/p>\n

His praise of the city didn’t stop with just when he was on the team. Segura noticed how great the Phillies fans were, even after he left in 2023.<\/p>\n

“Philly’s been awesome to me,” Segura said. “Even when I [got] out [of Philadelphia], there were still fans reaching out, they always supported me. They [were] always there. Maybe because I came through in the big moments, in the pressure moments.”<\/p>\n
Segura only played in one postseason in his entire 12-year career. While he hit just .214, his moments seemingly all came in the clutch. Segura had a clutch go-ahead hit against the St. Louis Cardinals, along with his incredible offensive and defensive performance against the Padres in game three of the NLDS.<\/p>\n
In his four years in Philadelphia, Segura accumulated 8.9 WAR, the most for any team he’s been on in his career. Across 1,636 at-bats, Segura had 459 hits, 228 runs, 78 doubles, 9 triples, 43 home runs, and 176 RBI. He hit .281 with an OPS of .755 in his four-year Phillies career.<\/p>\n
While Segura may not make the Phillies or National Baseball Hall of Fame, he has a special place in the hearts of Phillies fans, and Phillies fans have a special place in Segura’s heart as well.<\/p>\n
