CHICAGO (AP) \u2014 The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a one-year contract with right-handed reliever Jacob Webb with a club option for 2027, according to a person familiar with the deal.<\/p>\n
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the contract was pending a physical.<\/p>\n
The 32-year-old Webb became a free agent last month when the Texas Rangers did not offer him a contract<\/a> through arbitration. He went 5-4 with a 3.00 ERA in 55 appearances in his lone season with the Rangers.<\/p>\n Webb is 17-14 with a 2.99 ERA in six big-league seasons with Atlanta, the Los Angeles Angels, Baltimore and Texas. He won a World Series with the Braves in 2021.<\/p>\n The Cubs reached the postseason last season for the first time since 2020 and have spent part of the offseason rebuilding their bullpen.<\/p>\n Brad Keller<\/a> and Drew Pomeranz<\/a> departed in free agency, but Chicago re-signed left-hander Caleb Thielbar<\/a> to a $4.5 million, one-year contract earlier this month.<\/p>\n The Cubs also added left-hander Hoby Milner<\/a> on a one-year deal and signed right-hander Phil Maton<\/a> to a two-year deal.<\/p>\n
