It was confirmed this weekend that a former New York Mets star is at the center of a drug-related incident.<\/p>\n

On New Year’s Day, former Mets outfielder Lenny Dykstra was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over in Pike County, Pennsylvania. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, they found “narcotics and narcotic related equipment\/paraphernalia” on the 1986 World Series champion. He’ll face charges but they haven’t been specified at this time.<\/p>\n

Dykstra’s attorney, Matthew Blit, is confident the charges will be taken care of rather quickly.<\/p>\n

“Lenny Dykstra was merely a passenger in a vehicle that did not belong to him. Undeniably, the actual driver and owner was taken into custody at the scene under the suspicion of driving under the influence,” Blit told TMZ Sports<\/a>. “Lenny was not accused of being under the influence of any substance at the scene, nor was he arrested or taken into custody at the scene. To the extent charges are brought against him, they will be swiftly absolved.”<\/p>\n

Dykstra, a three-time All-Star, played for the Mets from 1985-1989 before joining the Philadelphia Phillies. He finished his MLB<\/a> career with a .285 batting average, 81 homers and 404 RBIs.<\/p>\n

In 2009, Dykstra auctioned off his World Series ring to help pay off debt. That same year he was reportedly banned from his foreclosed properties in Lake Sherwood. Things got worse in 2011 when he was accused of sexual assault by his housekeeper.<\/p>\n

Prior to this New Year’s Day traffic stop, Dykstra wasn’t really in the headlines. We’ll see if this situation gets sorted out quickly.<\/p>\n
