Multiple reports indicated the Jays and Okamoto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/article\/report-japanese-3b-okamoto-blue-jays-agree-on-deal-n1-47491589\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/article\/report-japanese-3b-okamoto-blue-jays-agree-on-deal-n1-47491589\/\">struck a four-year, $60 million deal on Saturday<\/a>. The contract was officially announced Sunday, necessitating a need to open a spot on the 40-man.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 27-year-old Schultz appeared in 13 games for Toronto during the regular season, pitching to a 4.38 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 24.2 innings of work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Additionally, Schultz had a 3.18 ERA in 26 minor-league games in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Schultz was drafted in the 14th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/team-page\/milwaukee-brewers\/232\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/mlb\/team-page\/milwaukee-brewers\/232\" target=\"_blank\">Milwaukee Brewers<\/a> and arrived with the Jays in 2021 as a player to be named later in a prior deal involving outfielder Derek Fisher.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Toronto Blue Jays have designated right-hander Paxton Schultz for assignment, it was announced Sunday evening.
