The Yankees have had a quiet offseason thus far. New York\u2019s most notable moves have been the re-signings of Trent Grisham and Amed Rosario. Another infielder will join Rosario this spring, as veteran and former NL All-Star Paul DeJong will reportedly sign with the Yankees on a Minor League contract.<\/p>\n
DeJong to Yankees<\/p>\n
Per multiple reports, including the New York Post, the Yankees have signed shortstop Paul DeJong<\/a> to a Minor League deal with an invite to Spring Training.<\/p>\n The 32-year-old will be less than two years removed from a 24-home run season. However, he slashed .228\/.269\/.373 with the Nationals last year across 57 games.<\/p>\n He has experience playing both shortstop and third base,<\/p>\n DeJong will look to crack a Yankees\u2019 Major League roster that includes Anthony Volpe<\/a>, who likely will not be ready for the start of 2025. Volpe had offseason shoulder surgery<\/a> and won\u2019t be ready to dive and put weight<\/a> on it until mid-April.<\/p>\n Angels sign left-hander<\/p>\n Former Mariners pitcher Tayler Saucedo<\/a> appeared to have signed with the Los Angeles Angels. Saucedo\u2019s Instagram profile<\/a> indicates that he is now a member of the organization.<\/p>\n The 32-year-old Saucedo had success in 2023 and 2024 with the Mariners, as he posted a sub-6.0% Barrel and sub-4.00 ERA figures in each of those campaigns. However, Saucedo gave up 11 earned runs (12 in total) over 13.1 IP with Seattle at the MLB level. He bounced between Seattle and Triple-A Tacoma.<\/p>\n Saucedo, who pitched in parts of five MLB seasons between the Blue Jays and Mariners. is a heavy ground-ball pitcher.<\/p>\n Other moves<\/p>\n Aside from the Royals announcing a contract extension for manager Matt Quatraro, Kansas City signed infielder Michael Braswell<\/a> to a Minor League deal.<\/p>\n The 23-year-old Braswell was a four-year starter in college, as he spent two years with South Carolina before spending 2024 and 2025 with the LSU Tigers. Braswell hit .311 with a .411 on-base percentage in 2024. However, in 2025, Braswell batted just .189 with the NCAA Division I champions.<\/p>\n Toronto, meanwhile, designated pitcher Paxton Schultz<\/a> for assignment. It was a corresponding move to add newcomer Kazuma Okamoto<\/a> to the 40-man roster.
