The Mets are among the teams showing interest in trading for Marlins pitcher Edward Cabrera<\/a>, a source told Barry Jackson<\/a> of the Miami Herald. MMO\u2019s James Villani has more on the report and on Cabrera here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cabrera, 27, went 8-7 with a 3.53 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and struck out 150 in a career-high 137 2\/3 innings pitched for Miami last year. The Marlins are \u201clistening\u201d to offers from the Mets, Cubs and Yankees, Jackson reported. The Astros and Orioles asked about the right-hander earlier in the offseason.<\/p>\n

Sources also told Chris Kirschner and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic<\/a> that the Yankees were in on Cabrera. The right-hander is under team control through 2028 and MLB Trade Rumors projects<\/a> that he will earn $3.7 million in arbitration this season.<\/p>\n

The Mets, according to MLBTR, are willing to deal from their surplus of young infielders in Ronny Mauricio<\/a>, Mark Vientos<\/a> and Luisangel Acu\u00f1a<\/a>. New York could also look at sending a young pitcher back to Miami in a deal.<\/p>\n

Lenny Dykstra<\/a>, 62, will face charges after a Pennsylvania state trooper said he found drugs and drug-related equipment during a traffic stop about 25 miles east of Scranton, per Zach Powell<\/a> of The Athletic. Dykstra was a passenger in a 2015 GMC Sierra truck when it was pulled over for a code violation. Police did not ID the driver of the vehicle or specify more details about the charges or what drugs were involved.<\/p>\n

Royals manager Matt Quatraro<\/a> agreed to a three-year contract extension<\/a> that carries through the 2029 season. The deal also includes a team option for 2030. Quatraro has managed Kansas City for three years, guiding them to back-to-back winning seasons (2024-2025) for the first time since 2013-2015.<\/p>\n

Infielder Paul DeJong<\/a> and the Yankees have agreed to a minor-league deal that includes a spring training invite. The 32-year-old will earn $1 million if he makes the team. DeJong posted a .642 OPS in 57 games with the Nationals last year.<\/p>\n
