Brewers prospect Frank Cairone was \u201cnot at fault\u201d in the New Jersey crash over the weekend<\/a> that left him hospitalized, Franklin Township Chief of Police Matthew DeCesari told The Post on Monday.<\/p>\n

The crash occurred on Friday at 10:15 p.m. when a female driver blew past a stop sign at the intersection of Fries Mill Road and Williamstown Road in Franklinville, New Jersey, near Cairone\u2019s home, per DeCesari.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was not at fault,\u201d DeCesari said.<\/p>\n

The driver and a female passenger in Cairone\u2019s vehicle were both injured and transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey.<\/p>\n

The female passenger was identified as his girlfriend.<\/p>\n

DeCesari confirmed that Cairone, 18, was airlifted to Atlantic City Medical and remains hospitalized, surrounded by family.<\/p>\n

Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold provided an encouraging update Monday, saying Cairone was \u201cprogressing positively\u201d in his recovery, per MLB.com\u2019s Adam McCalvy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A female passenger, identified as his girlfriend, was in Frank Cairone\u2019s car during the accident.<\/p>\n

Charges are being issued to the driver who caused the wreck, including disregarding a stop sign and reckless driving.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo alcohol or drugs were involved,\u201d DeCesari added.<\/p>\n

Cairone, who turned 18 in September, was Milwaukee\u2019s second-round pick (68th overall) in the 2025 MLB Draft back in July.<\/p>\n

Just 17 at the time he was drafted, Cairone saw his stock skyrocket after a strong senior campaign at Delsea Regional High School, where he struck out 94 hitters over 44 innings \u2014 hitting the mid-90s with his fastball, according to NJ.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrank is everything you want, he wants to work and get better, and I think he knows what he is capable of doing and he has everything you want in his makeup,\u201d former MLB pitcher and current agent Bobby Witt Sr. told the Courier Post<\/a> about the left-hander.<\/p>\n
