Purple Row is hiring a writer to join our team as a Rockpile\/Game Coverage writer for a small stipend \u2014 previous baseball writing experience is not required. You don\u2019t even have to live in Denver! Keep reading to find out if this the perfect opportunity for you.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s what you need to know:<\/p>\n
Rockpile<\/a>: Rockpiles are daily posts that are scheduled to publish at 6 a.m. MT every day. They include a short feature (~700 words) and 2-3 relevant Rockies, Rockies minor league, and general baseball links, mostly from the day preceding the Rockpile\u2019s publication. Rockpiles are conversation starters that anchor the daily conversation at Purple Row and are vital to the community.<\/p>\n Game Coverage<\/a>: Game Coverage is just that \u2014 watching or listening to a Rockies game and summarizing the highlights. The writer would be responsible for writing a Game Thread<\/a> prior to the game with relevant information (pitching match-up, first pitch time, how to watch\/listen, lineups, etc.) and a post-game Game Recap with 3-4 important moments (good or bad).<\/p>\n While Rockpile writing and Game Coverage would be the primary responsibility, new staffers can take advantage of Purple Row\u2019s platform, editing capacity, and community of thinkers in common to write any other Rockies-related blog posts. Feel free to spread your wings! This will give you practice writing for a large audience, and you\u2019ll get the support you need to grow as a writer.<\/p>\n Our best candidates will:<\/p>\n To apply, please submit a r\u00e9sum\u00e9, a cover letter explaining why you want to write about the Rockies, and two writing samples that you feel best represents you as a writer. One must be statistical baseball analysis and the other may be about whatever you want (baseball-related or otherwise). All items can be submitted via this form<\/a>.
