After the signing of starting pitcher <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/tag\/tyler-mahle\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Mahle<\/a>, San Francisco&#8217;s general manager <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PavlovicNBCS\/status\/2008314968031256783\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">is giving an update<\/a> on the franchise&#8217;s offseason plans moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiants GM Zack Minasian said the Giants will keep looking through free agent\/trade options, but said they are \u201cvery comfortable with the five (starters) that we have\u201d and the young depth behind those guys,\u201d NBC Sports reporter Alex Pavlovic posted on X, formerly Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco started out strong during the 2025 season, racing to the top of the National League West. That hot start wore off though near the end of the campaign. The Giants finished the year with a 81-81 overall record, missing the postseason.<\/p>\n<p>Mahle finished the 2025 season with a 6-4 overall record as a starter. He also posted a 2.18 ERA for the Texas Rangers, and started 16 contests.<\/p>\n<p>The Giants are feeling good about the rotation heading into 2026<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3649752\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Willy-Adames-Matt-Chapman.jpg\" alt=\"San Francisco Giants shortstop Willy Adames (2) and third baseman Matt Chapman (26) confer during the sixth inning against the San Diego Padres at Oracle Park.\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\"  \/>D. Ross Cameron-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco entered the offseason looking for some starting pitching. The Giants feel good about Mahle, who has also worked for the Cincinnati Reds and Minnesota Twins.<\/p>\n<p>Mahle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/news\/tyler-mahle-giants-rotation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">got the endorsement<\/a> of his former manager with the Rangers, Bruce Bochy. Bochy contacted the Giants to vouch for Mahle&#8217;s character.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you look at the results that Tyler got last year, I think Boch liked just about everything,\u201d general manager Zack Minasian said after Mahle was signed, per MLB.com.\u00a0\u201cHe just talked about how good [Mahle] was. Big fan of the person. Just a really strong recommendation that really came out from Boch at the Winter Meetings when we sat together. He obviously saw him pitch at a high level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s one thing to see it in a text message or on a phone call. It&#8217;s quite another to sit across from a Hall of Fame manager and hear them say, \u2018I really believe in this guy.\u2019 It was certainly encouraging, and we\u2019re obviously happy we were able to get this done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/mlb\/san-francisco-giants\/giants-news-san-francisco-contract-tyler-mahle-free-agency\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mahle signed a one-year deal with the Giants<\/a>, for $10 million. He is now part of a projected San Francisco rotation that includes Logan Webb, Adrian Houser, Robbie Ray and Landen Roupp.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The San Francisco Giants continue to rebuild after a disappointing 2025 season.
