1882\u00a0\u2013 The\u00a0National League<\/a>\u00a0will continue the practice of using different color patterns on\u00a0uniforms<\/a>\u00a0for the different\u00a0positions<\/a>.\u00a0Third basemen<\/a>\u00a0will wear gray and white uniforms, as the blue and white uniforms originally sought were \u201cimpossible to obtain.\u201d (2)<\/p>\n

1933 \u2013 Commissioner<\/a>\u00a0Kenesaw Mountain Landis<\/a>\u00a0announces that he is cutting his salary by 40 percent. Landis\u2019s action is a sign of the times during the Great Depression; most players will have their salaries reduced for the coming season. (2)<\/p>\n
