Hall will serve as a non-voting team representative.

According to the bill, renovations require a two-thirds majority vote from the Maricopa County Stadium District Board to use monies for infrastructure.

The other board members:

Kate Gallego – Phoenix mayor
Chad Campbell – chief of staff for Gov. Katie Hobbs
Danny Ortega – attorney, appointed by Arizona Rep. The board intends to appoint an executive director, and meeting schedules will be posted on its website once it gets published.

Lease negotiations with the county will be a topic of conversation moving forward as the Diamondbacks’ lease expires in 2027.

House Bill 2704 recaptures taxes collected at the ballpark, along with D-backs income taxes, to a fund for stadium renovations as Chase Field continues to age.

The bill allocates $500 million over 30 years (a cap that will be adjusted for inflation), and the Diamondbacks have pledged to invest team money into upgrades, as well. The redirected funds will come from the state, county and city.

Aside from the visible changes with the scoreboards, there will be a lot of work over the years in regards to concrete, plumbing and electrical, as well as the HVAC system to keep the behemoth ballpark cooler.

“We’ve done the best job we can since opening in 1998 to really put band aids and repair wherever we can,” Hall said. “We have to refurbish this place as we’ve been maintaining it. We’ve got to renovate it, bring it up to code, make it more state-of-the-art.

“In between the Hondo (Rodeo) and before the (Rate Bowl), we had a two major water pipes burst. It created a lake out in the player parking lot. It ruined our guest relations headquarters and all of our team photography offices. … That will cost you half a million dollars. These things happen with an old building, so we’re gonna have to take care of all that.”

Hall proposed a stadium tour for the members of the board to see the needed upgrades in person, in addition to visiting other ballparks to compare.

Major renovations are expected to take place over the next 3-5 years.

The Diamondbacks will begin spring training in February with their Cactus League opener on Feb. 20. Their first game back at Chase Field will be an exhibition matchup against the Cleveland Guardians on March 23, and the regular season home opener is on March 30 against the Detroit Tigers.

Follow @alexjweiner

When fans enter Chase Field this spring for Arizona Diamondbacks baseball, they will view a new video board…

[2404
146,22,570,4314,5,38,220,4,569
post-510188","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-arizona-diamondbacks","tag-arizona","tag-arizona-diamondbacks","tag-arizona-sports-now-on-98-7-fm","tag-arizonadiamondbacks","tag-baseball","tag-diamondbacks","tag-home","tag-mlb","tag-phoenix-arizona-sports-news-phoenix-breaking-sports-news
["GET
