The Padres have \u201csold out season ticket memberships for a fourth straight year,\u201d according to Jeff Sanders of the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE. The team has capped season ticket sales each of the past three seasons, with the number of season ticket memberships sold for 2026 \u201csetting a new franchise record.\u201d The record season ticket sales arrive \u201cdespite the team raising season ticket prices a fifth straight year,\u201d with the \u201cweighted average increase of 7% more than doubling last year\u2019s increase.\u201d Since the pandemic, the Padres have not ranked lower than fifth in attendance and in 2025 outdrew every team in the majors<\/a> outside the Dodgers<\/a> with a franchise-record 3,437,201 fans (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 1\/7<\/a>). <\/p>\n

NO SURPRISE HERE: In San Diego, Tom Krasovic wrote the sellout \u201cshould surprise no one who\u2019s been paying attention.\u201d All Padres home games have \u201cbecome a happening, no matter the day of the week or the opponent.\u201d Padres fans have made the club \u201cmore capable of challenging for the World Series and will do so again in 2026.\u201d Though the D-backs play in a bigger media market and last year had a franchise-record 2025 luxury-tax payroll of $216M that stood 14th of the 30 teams, the Padres had a $270M payroll that landed sixth. Krasovic wrote a guess that a big reason Padres President of Baseball Operations A.J. Preller had $54M more to spend than D-backs GM Mike Hazen was that the Padres\u2019 projected revenues for 2025 exceeded Arizona\u2019s by $107M.
