The former Dodgers outfielder spent the 2025 season with the Bronx Bombers, hitting 29 home runs and driving in 98 runs with an .813 OPS.

Bellinger arguably had his best performance since his 2019 MVP season, posting a 5.1 bWAR. The Dodgers have also shown interest in orchestrating a reunion with the former fan favorite following his strong 2025 campaign.

Since talks seemed to have stalled between Bellinger and the Yankees, the 2024 World Series runners-up are now considering Toronto Blue Jays free agent Bo Bichette. The 27-year-old could play second base for the Yankees if the team trades All-Star Jazz Chisholm; however, there’s no obvious infield opening for Bichette in the Bronx.

The Dodgers have checked in on Bichette, but president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman seems to be “hanging around the backboard” this offseason (as he typically does). While the Dodgers aren’t the most aggressive suitor for any big name free agent, the defending champions managed to snag baseball’s best closer with the same method.

Diaz fell into the laps of the Dodgers, so that could very well be the case for Bichette.

More news: Top 5 Moments From Dodgers 2025 Spring Training
