Just before the deadline to exchange arbitration contract figures today, the Cubs and Cabrera agreed to a $4.45 million deal for 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Cabrera made $1.950 million last year with the Marlins, his final year before reaching eligibility for arbitration. The Cubs have two more years of arb-eligible control of Cabrera after this one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">UPDATE: Javier Assad and the Cubs agreed to a $1.8 million contract for 2026. That\u2019s in line with the MLB Trade Rumors projection of $1.9 million.
