They’ve already signed big free agents, but it looks like there is more to do.

And the recent signing of Kazuma Okamoto, nominally an infielder, may point in one direction: Kyle Tucker.

Tucker has been linked more and more with the Blue Jays as the offseason has gone on.

MLB.com’s Anthony Castrovince has made that connection, saying that there isn’t a better fit in MLB for Tucker to sign with than Toronto.

“It’s the best fit on paper, if nothing else,” Castrovince wrote late Friday. “The Jays have added to their loaded lineup this offseason, but Tucker’s impact left-handed bat would give them better balance, and signing the market’s consensus No. 1 free agent would be in keeping with a Toronto team that has absolutely dominated that market. The Jays’ signing of Okamoto only increased the odds that, if they do pull off another major move, it makes more sense for it to be in the outfield than in the infield.”

MORE: Red Sox are paying Manny Ramirez same 2026 salary as Dodgers are paying Shohei Ohtani

Tucker was with the Astros until 2025. The New York clubs could be interested, although maybe aren’t the front-runners.
