Not much for Jays\u2019 news today.<\/p>\n
Eric Lauer (all Erics should come together and pick one spelling for their name) and the Jays filed their numbers with the arbitrator. Lauer is asking for $5.75 million the team is at $4.4 million. I\u2019m generally on the player\u2019s side in these things, but I can\u2019t see why the team wouldn\u2019t just give him the $5.75. He was so good last year. This year, it is looking like he\u2019ll be a long man in the pen until someone in the rotation gets hurt.<\/p>\n
But then the Nationals are going to arbitration with Cade Cavalli. He\u2019s asking for $900,000 and the team filed at $825. You would think they could get together on that one.<\/p>\n
You\u2019d think players would be smarter.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m sure you all saw that Don Mattingly signed to be the bench coach with the Phillies. I know he wasn\u2019t well-liked here, but I doubt that he truly cost us anything (or gained us anything). I\u2019d imagine that most bench coaches don\u2019t really affect the win\/loss record of their teams. I didn\u2019t like him because of the Yankee stink on him.<\/p>\n
MLB Trade Rumors tells me that the Tigers are interested in Chris Bassitt. I hope he signs somewhere. He seemed like a great guy and a good pitcher.<\/p>\n
