The Cincinnati Reds<\/a> are giving themselves more options as spring approaches.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Sunday, they made a free agent signing of Garrett Hampson. The team officially announced the news on Sunday<\/a> afternoon.<\/p>\n

Hampson actually played in nine games for the Reds in 2025. He was 3-for-18 at the plate in that limited stint.<\/p>\n

All told, he has suited up for the Reds, the Colorado Rockies<\/a>, the Kansas City Royals<\/a>, the Miami Marlins<\/a>, the St. Louis Cardinals<\/a> and the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hampson has above-average sprint speed even as he has surpassed 30 years old, according to Baseball Savant’s Statcast data.<\/p>\n

In his career, Hampson has stolen 67 bases in 83 attempts at the MLB level.<\/p>\n

He’s a career .235 hitter with 71 doubles, 19 triples and 29 homers.<\/p>\n

Hampson can play all over the field.<\/p>\n

When he plays the outfield, he patrols centerfield.<\/p>\n

In the infield, Hampson can play both second base and shortstop.<\/p>\n

He was originally a third-round pick by the Rockies in 2016 out of Cal State-Long Beach.<\/p>\n

He’s a native of Reno, Nevada.<\/p>\n

And now, Hampson will try to make Cincinnati’s roster.<\/p>\n
