{"id":516137,"date":"2026-01-12T02:44:42","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T02:44:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/516137\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T02:44:42","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T02:44:42","slug":"all-nine-mlb-teams-cancel-their-contracts-with-fanduel-sports-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/516137\/","title":{"rendered":"All nine MLB teams cancel their contracts with FanDuel Sports Network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The nine Major League Baseball teams televised by FanDuel Sports Network have terminated their contracts with FanDuel SN and its struggling parent company, Main Street Sports Group, two people briefed on the contracts told The Athletic.<\/p>\n<p>Termination of the deals does not preclude those teams \u2014 the Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals and Tampa Bay Rays \u2014 from returning on renegotiated agreements. When Main Street was in bankruptcy from 2023-25 (and known at the time as Diamond Sports Group), deals were terminated but ultimately reworked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe remain in active dialogue with all of our team partners regarding potential revised terms for agreements going forward,\u201d Main Street said in a statement Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>By exiting their existing contracts, the MLB teams are attempting to safeguard themselves from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/6948445\/2026\/01\/07\/fanduel-sports-network-renegotiate-payments-cardinals\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">possibility Main Street files for bankruptcy<\/a>, which would limit how clubs that hold contracts with Main Street could maneuver.<\/p>\n<p>Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred told reporters Thursday in New York that the league is in position to take over the broadcasts of any teams if needed, and that the goal is to maximize revenue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur focus, particularly given the point in the calendar, is to maximize the revenue that\u2019s available to the clubs, whether that\u2019s MLB Media or third party,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/mlb-tv-fan-duel-manfred-539d0cc29d01f18b0bb9c120d4b9ed5d\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Manfred said, per the Associated Press<\/a>. \u201cThe clubs have control over the timing. They can make a decision to move to MLB Media because of the contractual status now. I think that what\u2019s happening right now clubs are evaluating their alternatives. Obviously, they\u2019ve made significant payroll commitments already and they\u2019re evaluating the alternatives to find the best revenue source for the year and the best outlet in terms of providing quality broadcasts to their fans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MLB declined additional comment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/sports\/nba\/miami-heat\/article314247168.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Barry Jackson reported in the Miami Herald<\/a> on Thursday that Main Street missed a payment to the Marlins. Main Street was known to have missed a payment to the Cardinals last month. A person briefed on FanDuel SN\u2019s contracts confirmed that multiple MLB teams have not received scheduled payments.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/01\/07\/sources-main-street-hints-at-talks-with-second-bidder\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Sports Business Journal reported that Fubo<\/a> has emerged as a contender to buy Main Street.
