There is no more clear area that the Minnesota Twins need to address this offseason<\/a> than their bullpen. Last summer Derek Falvey traded more than half of the group<\/a>, and completely gutted Rocco Baldelli\u2019s relief corps.<\/p>\n

Derek Shelton<\/a> has to have some arms he can trust in relief. The more that are at his disposal, the better chance<\/a> Minnesota can improve upon their 70-92 record<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Many of the big names have already come off the board. Not surprisingly, that\u2019s typically not a pool the Twins play in anyways. With a few intriguing options left, Minnesota has inquired on one of them.<\/p>\n

Seranthony Dominguez a potential Twins target<\/p>\n

Edwin Diaz, Devin Williams, and Ryan Helsley types were never going to fit the Minnesota Twins bargain-bin tendencies in relief. Truthfully, Seranthony Dominguez would seem to escape that realm as well. KSTP\u2019s Darren \u201cDoogie\u201d Wolfson<\/a> has reported that the club has checked in though.<\/p>\n

Last season Dominguez made $8 million<\/a>. He began the season with the Baltimore Orioles and was traded, for the second straight season, to the Toronto Blue Jays. Now a free agent, he\u2019s looking for another fit.<\/p>\n

Across 2025 as a whole, Dominguez posted a 3.16 ERA (3.47 FIP) in 62 2\/3 innings<\/a>. He has closing experience, which is a significant boost for a Twins bullpen without any. Domiguez pitched in 230 games for the Philadelphia Phillies and has 40 career saves under his belt.<\/p>\n

The 5.2 BB\/9 in 2025 was certainly a problem, but his 11.3 K\/9 was a career-high. He still sits upper-90\u2019s<\/a> with his fastball, and exclusively pairs it with a slider.<\/p>\n

Where a deal ultimately comes in at remains to be seen. Dominguez is 31 years old, and the Minnesota Twins aren\u2019t synonymous with multi-year deals for relievers. The likelihood that Minnesota is waiting out the market remains strong, and it\u2019s no guarantee that works in their favor.<\/p>\n

Right now the payroll projects to be below $100 million<\/a>. That\u2019s a laughable figure, and even adding Dominguez shouldn\u2019t push them much over that. Something similar to his 2025 salary would make a lot of sense.<\/p>\n

State of the Minnesota Twins bullpen<\/p>\n

The only holdovers from the Minnesota Twins depleted stretch bullpen last year are Cole Sands, Justin Topa, and Kody Funderburk. From there Falvey and Shelton are tasked with piecing together the group.<\/p>\n

Eric Orze was added<\/a> from the Tampa Bay Rays in a 40-man roster shuffle, and Dan Altavilla is a veteran that signed a minor league deal<\/a>. Someone like Dominguez would push the whole group down a rung, and that\u2019s the sort of rung the team should be targeting.<\/p>\n

Beyond signing proven major league talent with leverage experience, the MN Twins will be tasked with converting some starters. Marco Raya, David Festa, Travis Adams, Pierson Ohl, and plenty of others may be in that boat.<\/p>\n
