DETROIT \u2014 Right-hander Hunter Gaddis was placed on the bereavement list Saturday following a death in his family. The Guardians recalled right-hander Nic Enright from Triple-A Columbus.<\/p>\n
If Enright appears in a game, it will be his big league debut. <\/p>\n
Gaddis, who pitched two scoreless innings in Friday\u2019s 3-1 win over the Tigers, is following his breakout year in 2024 with another strong performance in 2025. While three-fourths of the Big Four in Cleveland\u2019s bullpen have struggled this season, Gaddis has continued to pitch at a high level.<\/p>\n
Gaddis in 23 games has a 0.86 ERA. He has 13 holds with 29 strikeouts in 21 innings. He\u2019s allowed just two earned runs so far this season. <\/p>\n
Last year Gaddis went 6-3 with a 1.57 ERA and three saves in 78 appearances. He struck out 66, walked 14 and allowed 13 earned runs in 74 2\/3 innings. The opposition hit .166 against him.<\/p>\n
Gaddis\u2019 78 regular-season appearances were tied for the second most in the big leagues. His 78 appearances and 33 holds were rookie records for the franchise.<\/p>\n
A player can stay on the bereavement list for three to seven days.<\/p>\n
Enright has appeared in nine games at Columbus after dealing with a lat injury in spring training. He has a 2.00 ERA (two runs in nine innings) with one save. He\u2019s struck out seven, walked seven and allowed six hits allowed.<\/p>\n
In 2023, after being selected by the Marlins in the Rule 5 Draft off Cleveland\u2019s unprotected roster, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin\u2019s Lymphoma.<\/p>\n
The Marlins returned him to Cleveland during the 2023 season.<\/p>\n
