Mandatory Credit: Ron Chenoy-Imagn Images

The Yankees finally picked up some of the pitching depth they were looking for, acquiring left-hander Ryan Weathers from the Miami Marlins for a package of four prospects.

Infielders Dylan Jasso and Juan Matheus, and outfielders Dillon Lewis and Brendan Jones are going back Miami’s way.

Lewis had been at the top of the Marlins’ priority list, as they inquired about him in talks regarding fellow starting pitcher Edward Cabrera, who was dealt to the Chicago Cubs last week.

Weathers, though, is still seen as a high upside starter despite being 26 years old. He was limited to just eight starts last season due to flexor and lat strains, posting a 3.99 ERA with 37 strikeouts with 12 walks in 38.1 innings pitched. Across parts of five seasons in the big leagues, he is 12-23 with a 4.93 ERA.

Over the last year, though, he upped the average speed of his fastball to 96.8 mph, which ranked in the 86th percentile of all MLB pitchers in 2025. His walk rate over the past two seasons is hovering near 7%, which is an above-average figure to work with.

It provides some insurance at the bottom of the Yankees’ rotation with Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon beginning the 2026 season on the injured list. Even upon their return, he’s a candidate to stay on as a No. 5 starter behind the likes of Max Fried and Cam Schlittler.

For more on Ryan Weathers and the Yankees, visit AMNY.com

Sep 17, 2025; Denver, Colorado, USA; Miami Marlins starting pitcher Ryan Weathers (35) delivers a pitch in the…

[2395
5,1816,778,58,4171,4,1073,185,142
0":"post-519785","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-miami-marlins","8":"tag-baseball","9":"tag-marlins","10":"tag-miami","11":"tag-miami-marlins","12":"tag-miamimarlins","13":"tag-mlb","14":"tag-ryan-weathers","15":"tag-sports","16":"tag-yankees
["GET
