The New York Yankees<\/a> have made a big move to improve the starting rotation, acquiring lefty Ryan Weathers<\/a> from the Miami Marlins<\/a> in exchange for a package of four prospects, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n

The Yankees are sending outfielders Dillon Lewis and Brendan Jones, infielder Dylon Jasso and infielder Juan Matheus back to Miami to complete the deal, per ESPN\u2019s Jorge Castillo.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old Weathers has struggled to stay healthy in his five seasons in the majors, as he\u2019s made more than 16 starts in a season just once. However, when healthy over the past two campaigns with the Marlins, he has showcased promising results.<\/p>\n

In eight starts in 2025, Weathers pitched to a 3.99 earned-run average with 37 strikeouts over 38.1 innings pitched. <\/p>\n

Weathers was traded from the San Diego Padres<\/a> to the Marlins at the trade deadline in 2023. With Miami, he owns a 4.11 ERA over 27 appearances (26 starts), compared to a ghastly 5.73 ERA with the Padres in 43 appearances (29 starts).<\/p>\n

The Yankees were able to pry Weathers loose without giving up any of their top prospects – per MLB Pipeline, Jones is the No. 15 prospect in the Yankees system, Lewis ranked No. 16, Jasso was ranked No. 23 and the 21-year-old Matheus was not ranked after finishing this past season at High-A.<\/p>\n
