Entering the offseason, there were talks of the Pirates willing to spend money, which many scoffed at. However, Pittsburgh has done just that as the team traded for second baseman Brandon Lowe and signed first baseman Ryan O\u2019Hearn (two years, $29 million). Pittsburgh also signed reliever Gregory Soto to a $7.75 million contract for one year, and also traded for Jhostynxon Garcia.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been an active offseason, and ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan reported that the Pirates aren\u2019t done either, as the team is looking for more upgrades.<\/p>\n
