More news: Freddie Freeman Admits How Difficult Austin Barnes, Chris Taylor Release Was for Dodgers Players<\/a><\/p>\n While the Dodgers obviously haven\u2019t publicly expressed any potential targets they are eyeing on the free agent market this offseason, MLB<\/a> insider Jim Bowden<\/a> linked the Dodgers to Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman.<\/p>\n \u201cHis free-agent market should be even more robust than last offseason with the Red Sox joined by the Yankees, Tigers<\/a>, Astros, Phillies and even the Dodgers; he would be an upgrade for all of them at the hot<\/a> corner,\u201d Bowden writes. <\/p>\n Bregman signed a three-year, $120 million deal with the Red Sox last winter, but the contract includes opt-outs after each of the first two seasons. Drama ensued with the arrival of Bregman in Boston as he was given the starting job at the hot corner, and the Red Sox opted to move Rafael Devers to designated hitter.<\/p>\n Bregman is hitting .299 with 11 home runs, 35 runs batted in and an OPS of .938. Defensively, he ranks positively in Outs Above Average, per Baseball Savant. The third baseman is a two-time All-Star and World Series Champion, earning both accolades with the Houston Astros.<\/p>\n The Dodgers demonstrated they are not afraid of letting go longtime players as the team cut Chris Taylor<\/a> and Austin Barnes<\/a> in the span of a week. Max Muncy<\/a> is currently the Dodgers\u2019 longest-tenured position player, but his production is certainly a point of concern.<\/p>\n Muncy is hitting .205 with three home runs, 19 RBIs, and a .659 OPS. The former All-Star is struggling defensively as he is in the 2nd percentile in Outs Above Average. <\/p>\n The Dodgers could be looking to upgrade at third base, but it remains to be seen whether Bregman would be considered a good fit given the history he has with L.A.<\/p>\n
