The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> signed a player Thursday with the same name as a Cleveland Guardians baseball star.<\/p>\n

The NFL Jose Ramirez and the MLB Jose Ramirez are not the same person, though.<\/p>\n

The Eagles have signed the football-playing Ramirez to a reserve\/futures contract, which means he joins Philly for the offseason.<\/p>\n

The baseball-playing Ramirez is still happily the starting third baseman and best player for the Guardians.<\/p>\n

The NFL’s Ramirez was a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a>. He spent time in college at Arizona, Riverside Community College and Eastern Michigan.<\/p>\n

This Ramirez is a 6-foot-2, 252-pound outside linebacker.<\/p>\n

He has played in just four NFL games and not recorded a single statistic. All four games came for the Bucs in 2024.<\/p>\n

This signing with the Eagles will be Ramirez’s first time outside of the Buccaneers’ organization.<\/p>\n

But there’s still time for the football Ramirez to try and make his own mark and claim at least some of the shine of his name for himself.<\/p>\n
