The deal included no deferrals and was worth $60 million for each of the first two seasons and $50 million for the final two.<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers ultimately <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/15\/sports\/kyle-tucker-picks-dodgers-over-mets-blue-jays-in-free-agency-stunner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">won the bidding on Thursday with a $240 million<\/a> contract over four years. It includes opt-outs after years 2 and 3, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n<p>Even with $30 million of Tucker\u2019s contract reportedly deferred, it becomes the largest present value contract \u2014 in terms of average annual value \u2014 in MLB history. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not clear what the Blue Jays, who were long considered one of the front-runners in the sweepstakes, offered. AP<\/p>\n<p>Tyrone Taylor is still under contract, and president of baseball operations David Stearns said earlier this offseason that <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/11\/sports\/mets-prospect-carson-benge-to-get-shot-to-make-big-league-roster\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">prospect Carson Benge will have a chance to make the team<\/a> out of spring training. <\/p>\n<p>But if it\u2019s those two and Juan Soto as the three starting outfielders on Opening Day remains to be seen.<\/p>\n<p>Cody Bellinger is likely the next best available outfielder on the market, but <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/15\/sports\/yankees-willing-to-add-multiple-opt-outs-in-their-cody-bellinger-pursuit\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Heyman reported Thursday<\/a> that the Yankees have now included two opt-outs in their dogged pursuit to bring him back to The Bronx.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Mets\u2019 offer to Kyle Tucker had warning track power \u2014 it came up just short.
