{"id":526223,"date":"2026-01-18T10:11:23","date_gmt":"2026-01-18T10:11:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/526223\/"},"modified":"2026-01-18T10:11:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-18T10:11:23","slug":"chris-russo-rants-after-dodgers-sign-kyle-tucker-for-240-million-a-joke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/526223\/","title":{"rendered":"Chris Russo rants after Dodgers sign Kyle Tucker for $240 million: &#8216;A joke&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chris Russo is tired of the big-spending Dodgers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The ESPN personality ripped the two-time defending World Series champions after the franchise signed star outfield Kyle Tucker to a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/16\/sports\/dodgers-240-million-kyle-tucker-deal-is-painful-mets-setback\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">four-year, $240 million deal<\/a>, adding to their embarrassment of riches.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s terrible for baseball,\u201d Russo said during an appearance on the \u201cDan Patrick Show.\u201d \u201c\u2026 I mean, how many guys are <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/17\/sports\/mike-francesa-goes-scorched-earth-on-weak-ineffective-steve-cohen-after-kyle-tucker-failure\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">you going to have them sign<\/a>? \u2026 Their payroll last year with insurance was over $500 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Dodgers theoretically aren\u2019t doing anything wrong. They\u2019re playing by the rules but the rules have to change. This is getting to be a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Russo took exception to the Dodgers\u2019 use of deferred compensation, which has helped them bring in talents like Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Blake Snell, Tucker and others in free agency.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rules stink.
