The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best team in baseball right now and it’s not necessarily close. <\/p>\n

After winning back to back World Series titles, the Dodgers added Edwin Diaz, the best closer in baseball, and Kyle Tucker, the best free agent on the market, to bolster the roster. To make matters worse for the rest of the league, the Dodgers might not be done yet.<\/p>\n

Just Baseball’s Jay Staph put together a trade idea<\/a> that would send Milwaukee Brewers ace Freddy Peralta to the Dodgers in exchange for Ben Casparius and Alex Freeland.<\/p>\n

“However, if there\u2019s one issue the Dodgers constantly run into as the season progresses, it\u2019s injuries. The only starting pitchers to eclipse the 100-inning mark for the team this season were Clayton Kershaw and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, which speaks to the health struggles that they\u2019ve faced,” Staph wrote. “Adding Freddy Peralta to this group is another safety net in case things go south once again, as he\u2019s proven he can stay healthy and eat up significant innings over the past few seasons.”<\/p>\n

The Dodgers have been very closely linked to Peralta, but it would likely take another top prospect to pull him from the Brewers.<\/p>\n

Either way, this idea makes sense. The Dodgers could run with a six-man rotation for a chunk of the year. They could also opt to move Roki Sasaki to the bullpen. Either way, having another ace at the top of the rotation would help the Dodgers quite a bit, especially considering they’ve struggled with injuries over the last few years.<\/p>\n
