Therefore, Skubal can compare himself in an arbitration hearing to right-hander <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/w\/wheelza01.shtml\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Zack Wheeler;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Zack Wheeler<\/a>, who is MLB&#8217;s highest-paid pitcher for 2026, at $42 million.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Boras believes Skubal&#8217;s value aligns with the best players in baseball.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why Skubal filed at $32 million.<\/p>\n<p>Skubal is the first back-to-back American League Cy Young winner in the 21st century, leading the AL with a 2.39 ERA in 2024 and a 2.21 ERA in 2025.
