{"id":529900,"date":"2026-01-20T23:35:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T23:35:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/529900\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T23:35:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T23:35:13","slug":"two-players-elected-to-baseball-hall-of-fame-for-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/529900\/","title":{"rendered":"Two players elected to Baseball Hall of Fame for 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5ZZFDMXDLVDFPM63RJHMBW2ESQ\">There will be two new members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/redsox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/redsox\/\">National Baseball Hall of Fame<\/a> later this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TG43UZGO25GSPOWEKD63FZDGNM\">Carlos Beltran (84.2%) and Andruw Jones (78.4%) were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/redsox\/2026\/01\/mlb-notebook-explaining-my-hall-of-fame-ballot-the-struggle-to-annually-maintain-a-top-minor-league-system.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.masslive.com\/redsox\/2026\/01\/mlb-notebook-explaining-my-hall-of-fame-ballot-the-struggle-to-annually-maintain-a-top-minor-league-system.html\">elected to Cooperstown<\/a> on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"AKE7BAV4HZCEHPDD5JBYSX2DZ4\">Last year, Beltran garnered 70.3% of the vote. The former MLB outfielder hit 435 home runs, had 2,725 hits and 1,587 RBI in 20 seasons. He\u2019s also of five players in American\/National League history to hit at least 500 doubles, 400 home runs and steal 300 bases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"M5VIUMUI3NFQ3FSIQTNUCJ5KVY\">The others are: Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, Andre Dawson and Willie Mays.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"GSWLEUBVV5APJKVFJ2CJNSLVOE\">Beltran is a nine-time All-Star, three-time Gold Glove Award winner and two-time Silver Slugger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QNYZL5Y2WBHL7C3AM22MTFN4NY\">Jones, who had 66.2% of the vote last year, won 10 Gold Gloves and was only one of four outfielders to do so, along with Ken Griffey Jr., Al Kaline and Ichiro Suzuki. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"3MV4HQETD5ED5GASCVQ2ORJFKM\">A five-time All-Star, Jones had 434 home runs and 1,289 RBI in 17 MLB seasons. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"SLMXOWTI4VBCVMFTKGRFJGRJRY\">Beltran and Jones will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in July.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"There will be two new members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame later this year.
