The San Francisco Giants<\/a> have been rather inactive this offseason, but they still have problems to address, like getting an upgrade for their starting rotation, and have it be something that can combat the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>. Luckily, there\u2019s a theoretical move that can solve both.<\/p>\n

Fansided\u2019s Zachary Rotman<\/a> believes the Giants can upgrade their pitching and stick it to the Dodgers by making a blockbuster trade for Milwaukee Brewers<\/a> All-Star ace Freddy Peralta. Peralta has been a serious target of L.A. as of late, so taking him from under their noses could be the perfect move.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe San Francisco Giants aren’t a small-market team by any means, but they’ve been reluctant to spend big money this winter. Acquiring Peralta, a pitcher they’ve been linked to all winter, would not cost much financially, and could get San Francisco into the NL playoff picture. It would, however, be quite costly asset-wise\u2026However, getting Peralta would give the Giants a rotation trio alongside Logan Webb and Robbie Ray that can compete with any, and who knows, perhaps he’d be open to an extension,\u201d Rotman wrote.<\/p>\n

This past season, Peralta posted a 17-6 record, a 2.70 ERA, 204 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.075 over 176 innings pitched. He would instantly become the ace of the Giants and have some strong backing from Logan Webb and Robbie Ray.<\/p>\n

As Rotman mentioned, though, they\u2019d only have him for a year. So, the Giants better be ready to extend him for his projected<\/a> five-year, $152 million deal.<\/p>\n

If they can do that, they may have an ace who actually takes another step forward, as he’d be playing in a pitcher-friendly park like Oracle. Hopefully, they realize what a good move this could be and get on the phone before Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
