The New York Mets have acquired former All-Star outfielder Luis Robert Jr. from the Chicago White Sox.<\/p>\n

The Mets traded infielder Luisangel Acu\u00f1a and pitcher Truman Pauley to Chicago in exchange for Robert, ESPN\u2019s Jeff Passan reports<\/a>. New York will inherit the remainder of Robert\u2019s contract, which includes $20 million this season and a $20 million team option for the 2027 season, with a $2 million buyout.<\/p>\n

Robert, 28, played six seasons with the White Sox from 2020-25, earning one All-Star selection and one Silver Slugger award in 2023. He also won a Gold Glove award while finishing second in American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2020.<\/p>\n

Last season, Robert posted career lows in batting average (.223), slugging percentage (.364) and OPS+ (85) while with Chicago. He adds to a Mets outfield that includes superstar Juan Soto<\/a>, defensive-first centerfielder Tyrone Taylor, and 2024 first round draft pick Carson Benge, who reached Triple-A Syracuse last season.<\/p>\n

The White Sox, meanwhile, acquire two of the Mets top young players in 23-year-old Acu\u00f1a and 22-year-old Pauley.<\/p>\n

Acu\u00f1a played in 95 games for the Mets last season, posting a .234 batting average, zero homers, a .567 OPS and 16 stolen bases in 175 at-bats. He is the younger brother of Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acu\u00f1a Jr.<\/p>\n

Pauley played his first season of pro baseball last season after being drafted by the Mets in the 12th round of the 2025 MLB Draft.
