The Philadelphia Phillies will be returning next season with most of their roster from last year intact, but don\u2019t tell them they are \u201crunning it back.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shortly after the team announced its decision to reunite with veteran catcher JT Realmuto, Phillies manager Rob Thomson pushed back on the narrative that they\u2019ve done too little.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re going to have three new relievers. We\u2019ve got a new right fielder,\u201d Thomson said, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia\u2019s Cole Weintraub<\/a>. \u201c(Justin) Crawford\u2019s going to get every chance to play. We\u2019ve probably got a rookie starting in (Andrew) Painter. We\u2019ve got Otto Kemp. So we\u2019re turning over 20 to 25 percent of our roster. And the team also lost a major contributor as starting pitcher Ranger Suarez joined the Boston Red Sox.<\/p>\n It might be tough to watch Suarez take the mound for the Red Sox after he enjoyed many standout moments in his career with the Phillies, including an All-Star appearance in 2024.
