Philadelphia needs someone to eat innings while Zack Wheeler rehabs his elbow. Bassitt, 36, has made his reputation on durability. He still misses barrels with a healthy mix of off-speed pitches, and he can move into a bullpen role if such a need arises, too.”

For the Blue Jays, losing Bassitt wouldn’t be the worst thing, given some of their additions like Dylan Cease, but it wouldn’t be ideal. While he may no longer be that top-of-the-rotation arm, Bassitt has given the Blue Jays a ton of innings.

That reliability is difficult to replace, especially with the Blue Jays looking to make it back to the World Series and win the AL East once again.

Toronto has had a very nice offseason, but it wouldn’t be the worst idea to consider re-signing him to cap it off.

More Blue Jays news:

Blue Jays predicted to lose long-time veteran to NL contender in short-term deal originally appeared on The Sporting…

[2378
5,377,2554,88,82,29806,554,76,4,25,1414,282,70,2553,117
0":"post-533941","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-toronto-blue-jays","8":"tag-baseball","9":"tag-blue-jays","10":"tag-bluejays","11":"tag-bo-bichette","12":"tag-chris-bassitt","13":"tag-christopher-kline","14":"tag-dave-dombrowski","15":"tag-dylan-cease","16":"tag-mlb","17":"tag-philadelphia-phillies","18":"tag-the-blue-jays","19":"tag-toronto","20":"tag-toronto-blue-jays","21":"tag-torontobluejays","22":"tag-zack-wheeler
["GET
