This weekend in San Diego County you can catch whimsical Disney ice skating, honor a Padres legend and keep the Sunday scaries at bay with a good meal out at a restaurant.\u00a0<\/p>\n

First up, Disney on Ice: Let\u2019s Dance<\/a> lights up Pechanga Arena at 7 p.m. Friday, continuing with five more shows through Sunday. The high-energy figure skating program features Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy as DJ hosts, remixing Disney hits with stories from Wish, Frozen 2, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Moana. Tickets start at $30.<\/p>\n

Another opportunity to honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King comes Saturday in Encanto, where the annual MLK parade kicks off at 9 a.m. along streets leading to the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center, 6401 Skyline Drive. A free MLK Community Celebration<\/a> follows from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with live music and entertainment, food, community resources, a kids zone and a youth basketball showcase.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The San Diego Padres will honor late Cy Young Award winner and Padres alumnus Randy Jones<\/a> with a celebration of life<\/a> at Petco Park Saturday at 11 a.m. Current and former players, team executives, family members and special guest speakers will attend. Fans can claim free digital tickets \u2013 limit six per person \u2013 via the Ballpark app or at the Padres website<\/a>. The Home Plate Gate opens at 10 a.m., with first-come, first-served seating and free parking in nearby Padres lots. Standard Petco Park entry policies apply.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oceanside Public Library hosts author and professor Dr. Olivia Chilcote for a 10 a.m. talk on her book<\/a>, \u201cUnrecognized in California: Federal Acknowledgement and the San Luis Rey Band of Mission Indians.\u201d The associate professor of American Indian Studies at San Diego State University will discuss the Tribe\u2019s ongoing fight for federal recognition and rightful claims to land and resources. The first 15 attendees will receive a free copy of the book.<\/p>\n

San Diego State Softball invites fans to the third annual First Pitch Social<\/a> Saturday from 3-6 p.m. at SDSU Softball Stadium, Plaza Deportes. The fundraising event brings the community together to celebrate Aztec pride and support the team\u2019s pursuit of a fifth consecutive Mountain West Championship. Guests can enjoy food, drinks, as well as live and silent auctions. This year\u2019s theme, \u201cLeaving a Legacy,\u201d honors the generations shaping Aztec Softball. Individual tickets start at $125.\u00a0<\/p>\n
