Last month the Twins announced a plan to make Tom Pohlad the controlling owner in place of his younger brother, Joe Pohlad, as part of a new executive leadership structure coinciding with the purchase of portions of the franchise by three different investors.<\/p>\n
KSTP Sports caught up with Tom Pohlad on Friday at the start of TwinsFest. He laid out how he\u2019s been busy engaging with season-ticket holders, admitted the mistake his family made after the 2023 playoff success when it came to investing in the 2024 roster, and pledged to give the front office the necessary resources it needs to add to the 2026 roster.<\/p>\n

The Twins made some news official on Friday, signing left-hander Taylor Rogers to a one-year, $2 million contract to bring the veteran reliever back to his original team as part of a bullpen revamp. They also finalized a two-year, $14 million deal with catcher Victor Caratini.<\/p>\n
Rogers and Caratini were at Target Field for their physical exams to make their signings official, after recently agreeing to terms. Rogers had a 3.15 ERA in 319 appearances over his first six major league seasons with the Twins, accumulating 361 strikeouts in 314 2\/3 innings. He became a closer in 2019 and made the All-Star team in 2021.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Taylor Rogers we knew in \u201918 and \u201919 is going to be different than this guy, but he\u2019s still a really good reliever and I think he\u2019s going to have a big impact in our bullpen not only pitching-wise but with the ability to lead our group,\u201d said new manager Derek Shelton, who was the bench coach for the Twins during part of Rogers\u2019 first stint with the club.<\/p>\n
Pohlad told KSTP that signing another reliever is very much on their radar. Many free agents remain on the open market.<\/p>\n
The Twins\u2019 first full squad spring training workout in Fort Myers will take place on Mon. Feb. 16.<\/p>\n
